LSI Logic Validates Embedded Memory with Legend Design CharFlo-Memory!(TM) Tools
SANTA CLARA, California, U.S.A. – Jan. 9, 2006– Legend Design Technology, Inc. today announced that LSI Logic has adopted the CharFlo-Memory! and MSIM circuit simulator for memory instance characterization of its next-generation SRAM, Register File and ROM compilers. Based on layout-extracted circuit data with resistors and capacitors, the Legend CharFlo-Memory! toolset has the capacity to validate on-chip memory instance models at any process, voltage and temperature (PVT) corner.
“Our customers’ system-on-chip (SoC) designs require high-quality timing and power models of embedded memory to achieve optimum performance and Right-First-Time™ silicon success,” said Dr. Shiva Ramesh, Senior Engineering Director in the Custom Solutions Group at LSI. “Legend's CharFlo-Memory! enables us to reliably validate the characterization process for both third-party memory compilers and in-house customized memories. We use Legend’s optimization technology to accurately characterize setup and hold time to ensure optimal operation without glitch, meta-stability or signal integrity violations.”
Legend Design and LSI engineers worked together during the evaluation and productization of the CharFlo-Memory! tools in LSI’s design environment. Using Legend’s CharFlo-Memory! toolset, any instance from the memory compilers can be characterized in real-time to ensure superior quality and reliability. For ‘what-if’ analysis on any PVT corner, Legend’s CharFlo-Memory! has automated the characterization task, producing accurate results. With the Legend Design tool suite, LSI can easily verify the impact that a process change has on memory IP function and reliability.
“Accurate timing and power modeling of embedded memories is essential for silicon success of deep-submicron and nanometer SOC design,” said Dr. You-Pang Wei, president and chief executive officer of Legend Design Technology. “With the adoption of Legend’s proprietary CharFlo-Memory!, LSI has acquired the premier solution for memory characterization and modeling. We’re pleased to be working closely with LSI to meet their needs for accuracy, performance and automation.”
