LTRIM's System Supervisor IP Blocks Accurately Sense Temperature at Low Power
– LTRIM Technologies, a leading provider of high performance CMOS analog Intellectual Property (IP), today announced the availability of a family of system supervisor functions, covering Power On Reset (POR), Thermal Monitor, and Temperature Sensor IP blocks. With their ultra low operating current, these IP blocks are ideally suited for low power system-on-chips (SoCs) designed for use in consumer and portable products.
The LTR8433-T25 and LTR8434-T25 IP blocks are digital system supervisory functions. Each IP block provides precision monitoring of the power supply voltage (VDD) and includes Brown-Out Reset (BOR) circuitry that provides a reset signal when it detects out-of-tolerance power supply conditions. These building blocks increase long-term system reliability by providing safe system power-up for SoCs and reduce BOM cost by eliminating external components.
The LTR8600-T25 IP monitors either a die temperature or junction temperature of an integrated SoC. Over-temperature conditions are signaled by its FAULT output when the die temperature exceeds a preset temperature threshold. The LTR8600-T25 can accurately monitor temperature up to +150°C. The LTR8600-T25 increases long-term reliability of a SoC by providing a warning signal to the operating microcontroller when over-temperature condition occurs. The supervising logic can then respond to the over-temperature conditions with the appropriate procedure.
The LTR8700-T25 is a linear voltage output temperature sensor IP. Its output voltage is directly proportional to the measured temperature. The LTR8700-T25 can accurately sense temperature from -55°C to +125°C with an accuracy of ±5°C. To further reduce power consumption, the LTR8700-T25 features a shutdown mode.
All these IPs are available today in 0.25 micron TSMC CMOS technology, but may be retargeted to other foundry process technologies.
