CoFluent Design Announces World's First Eclipse-Based Graphical ESL Modeling and Simulation Framework
CoFluent Studio Leverages Model-Driven Development and Eclipse Technologies to Deliver State-of-the-Art Graphical Modeling Environment and Superior Interoperability
NANTES, France – MAY 26, 2008 – CoFluent Design, an electronic system level (ESL) company that delivers model-based software solutions for early system architecture exploration and performance analysis, today announced version 3.0 of CoFluent Studio™, the world-first ESL graphical modeling and simulation framework built on Eclipse technologies.
CoFluent Studio V3 leverages the Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF) and the Ecore standard to define its meta-model format, the internal description of models created by users. The new graphical editor is based on the Eclipse Graphical Modeling Framework (GMF) that manipulates natively Ecore-based meta-models. The entire CoFluent Studio V3 toolset framework is based on Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP), providing optimized and open software architecture. Each tool integrated to the CoFluent Studio RCP framework can become an Eclipse plug-in that any Eclipse workbench user could potentially download and use.
“Eclipse has the potential for providing a unified tooling environment to hardware and software engineers, which is a key factor for the success of ESL,” said Vincent Perrier, Cofounder and Director of CoFluent Design. “The Eclipse workbench is already very familiar to embedded software developers, but is still new to the EDA and ESL industries. CoFluent Studio V3 uses Eclipse behind the scene. It is a first and important step toward a progressive adoption of a fully Eclipse-based ESL environment.”
“CoFluent Studio V3 offers Eclipse-based advanced model-driven development capabilities and graphical user interface facilities,” said Stéphane Leclercq, CEO of CoFluent Design. “The new graphical editor delivers exceptional productivity and user-friendliness to customers. From a market viewpoint, Eclipse constitutes a fantastic deployment and adoption platform for CoFluent technologies.”
One main advantage of adopting EMF is the capability offered by model-driven development (MDD) tools and techniques for models interoperability. Model transformations provide an efficient way to create gateways to import/export models with other tools. Now CoFluent models can be imported into Sodius’ Eclipse-based MDWorkbench® model transformation and code generation framework (www.mdworkbench.com) . MDWorkbench also imports models defined in UML®, SysML™ and Ecore. With MDWorkbench, CoFluent Studio users can:
-
Develop model transformations to easily import models from other environments into CoFluent Studio and export their CoFluent models to other modeling environments, including Telelogic Rhapsody®, Statemate® and DOORS®, MathWorks MATLAB® and Simulink®
-
Generate customizable code and documentation by directly accessing model information contained in the CoFluent model
Availability
CoFluent Studio v3.0 will be available fourth quarter 2008.
A preview version will be demonstrated at the Design Automation Conference in Anaheim, California, from June 9 to 12. Illustrations of CoFluent-SysML model transformations and documentation generation using Sodius MDWorkbench will also be demonstrated.
About CoFluent Design
CoFluent Design provides integrated solutions to bridge the gap between the specification of an electronic system and its implementation. Its CoFluent Studio™ ESL modeling and simulation software environment allows developers of electronic devices and chips to:
- DECIDE: Securely predict behavior and performance from partial software and hardware for design validation at all stages
- SHARE: Provide system executable specifications rather than static documents for common hardware / software reference
- CAPITALIZE: Capture projects’ system design expertise in enterprise model libraries for easier and faster innovation
