for ARM Developer Suite[tm]
CAMBRIDGE, UK - June 27, 2000 ARM [(LSE:ARM); (Nasdaq:ARMHY)], the industry's leading provider of 16/32-bit embedded RISC microprocessor solutions, today announced it has expanded its portfolio of software and development tools with the introduction of ARM Trace Debug Tools (TDT). The new tools provide the software element for ARM's real-time Trace debug solution for microprocessors based on ARM® cores, and offer developers improved debug reliability, reduced design cycle and debug time and shorter time-to-market.
ARM TDT software enables system developers to have the same debug facilities from prototype development board to final system-on-chip (SoC) product, resulting in improved reliability due to the greater ability to debug and test. The software works in conjunction with a full range of ARM development tools, and provides a seamless extension to the ARM Developer Suite[tm] (ADS) solution.

ARM TDT software resides on the host computer and works in conjunction with ADS to provide trace capabilities for the ARM architecture. Features and benefits include:
- Non-intrusive debugging at full processor speed - Applications can be debugged while running at full speed, enabling debugging to occur exactly as it would in the final product.
- Historical view of processor activity - Designers can examine exactly how an application ran at any specific time, helping locate bugs that are caused by unpredictable interactions between the application and the hardware.
- Standard tools for all ARM core-based SoCs - Designers only need a single set of tools to debug any ARM core-based SoC with trace capability, reducing development seat costs and removing the need for multiple tools.
