Discretix Announces Multi-Scheme DRM Support For MeeGO Operating System
Advanced Digital Rights Management Solution for New Mobile OS from Nokia and Intel Promises Short Time to Market; Solution Integrated with Intel® Atom™’s Hardware Security Capabilities Supports HD Content, User Experience Customization
SANTA CLARA, CA — (August 2, 2010) — Discretix, the leading global provider of embedded security solutions, today announced that its Multi-Scheme DRM Client, the digital rights technology found on many of the world’s leading mobile devices, is now available for the Intel/Nokia MeeGO operating system. Discretix’ Multi-Scheme DRM Client supports all major DRM schemes in use today, enabling high-end content including HD video to be displayed on smartphones, netbooks, tablets and other connected mobile gear running MeeGO.
MeeGO is an open source collaboration between Nokia and Intel to enable a new generation of rich media applications and connected services. Targeting handheld computing and connected devices, media phones and in-vehicle infotainment systems, among other devices, the first products running MeeGO are expected to hit the market later this year.
Discretix’ Multi-Scheme DRM Client will provide the highest possible levels of security and multimedia performance to devices using MeeGO. Able to support all the major DRM schemes in use today including OMA DRM V1.0/2.1, Microsoft® PlayReady™, Microsoft® WM-DRM 10 and CPRM, the client can also be easily expanded to address future schemes. In addition the security and performance of the client are enhanced by full integration with the hardware security capabilities of the Intel® Atom™ processor.
By choosing Discretix’ Multi-Scheme DRM for the MeeGO operating system, OEMs enjoy easy integration with their chosen applications resulting in a short time-to-market. It also allows users to customize their Web experiences to suit their particular needs and preferences.
“MeeGO is a rising power in the embedded Linux segment. Backed by both Intel and Nokia, it is clearly a major development in the next class of portable and small form factor devices,” said Raanan Tzemach, EVP Marketing for Discretix. “By supporting this new operating system, we’re underscoring our commitment to our strategic partner Intel, as well as to the most advanced mobile device environments.”
