Altera and MJL Technology Announce Cyclone Development Kit for Low-Cost, High-Volume Applications

San Jose, Calif., March 25, 2003—Following on the heels of the highly successful MJL Stratix™ Development Kit, Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) and MJL Technology, Ltd. today announced the immediate availability of the MJL Cyclone™ Development Kit, the first in a series of development kits based on Altera's low-cost Cyclone FPGA family. The MJL Cyclone Development Kit provides designers with a comprehensive platform for designing, prototyping, and debugging high-volume, cost sensitive systems using the Cyclone device family.

Like the MJL Stratix Development Kit released in December, the comprehensive Cyclone Development Kit includes a powerful development board, Quartus® II Web Edition design software, and several system reference designs, giving customers the ability to quickly and easily design and prototype their applications.

Built on TSMC's proven all-copper, 0.13-micron process technology, the Cyclone device family is the industry's lowest cost FPGA family shipping today. To date, Altera is the only FPGA vendor shipping production-grade devices on the 0.13-micron process technology.
