Xilinx® flagship Virtex FPGAs enable dynamic reprogramming of Tarari's Content Processors
SAN JOSE/SAN DIEGO, Calif., January 28, 2003-Xilinx Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) and Tarari Inc., a unique provider of subsystem building blocks for accelerated content processing, today announced the immediate availability of the Tarari Content Processor Development Kit (CP-DK) as part of Xilinx's eSP (Emerging Standards & Protocols) web portal program. Utilizing Xilinx's field-upgradeable Virtex™ Platform FPGA devices, the Tarari CP-DK is a flexible and programmable acceleration board-level platform that can be used for a wide variety of content processing applications including image, speech, seismic, security, life sciences, and others. The CP-DK comes with standards-based building blocks that enable OEMs, system integrators and software vendors to quickly and cost effectively deploy dynamically reprogrammable solutions for compute-intensive applications. The Tarari Content Processor Development Kit is available now. For additional information visit http://www.xilinx.com/esp/cpdk or www.tarari.com.
For the first time system developers can inspect application layer content at network speeds. Enabled by Xilinx Virtex-II Platform FPGAs, the Tarari CP-DK reduces development time and cost for system integrators who constantly struggle to find cost-effective ways to stay ahead of the competition while remaining current with continuously evolving standards and protocols.
"The Tarari CP-DK delivers the building blocks necessary to reach the performance levels and flexibility required by content processing solutions," said Dave Finlay, vice president of Marketing and Sales at Tarari, Inc., "CP-DK is ideal for network security, virus detection, XML-based Web Services, High-Performance Computing (HPC) and other emerging technologies. Together, with our partners, we are creating adaptable solutions that reduce development and ownership costs and enable customers to benefit from the intelligent inspection and control of content while maintaining network speeds."
"Tarari's innovative application of Xilinx FPGAs in its high-performance, compute-intensive development platform represents our ability to make a significant impact with enabling technologies for our customers," said Robert Bielby, senior director of Strategic Solutions at Xilinx.
About the Tarari Content Processor Development Kit Immediately available, the CP-DK is a flexible solution that includes the Tarari Content Processing Controller, Xilinx Virtex Platform FPGA devices and all the other required base-level components, allowing developers to focus solely on algorithm development. This enables developers to create agents and hardware representations of complex software algorithms that can process specific tasks five to ten times faster than otherwise possible.
About Content Processors
Tremendous investment has been made to accelerate and process packets as they move through networks and servers. However, this packet processing has been limited to looking at headers, doing table look-ups, and sending the packets on their way. Content Processors are hardware based subsystem building blocks (silicon, boards, etc.) that snap into servers, appliances and network devices to allow control and inspection of complete messages and rich data at much greater rates than previously possible. Content Processors ensure that the information in the payloads of these messages can be intelligently accessed and processed while maintaining network speeds.
