Slimtech Deploys Antrim Design Systems' Mixed-Signal Design Platform
SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 30, 2001--Antrim Design Systems today announced that Slimtech has licensed Antrim's analog and mixed-signal design tools and intellectual property (IP) for use in chip development throughout the company. Slimtech is the design services arm of Dongbu Electronics foundry in Seoul, Korea. The agreement covers a wide spectrum of Antrim tools, including Antrim®-AMS mixed-signal simulator, Antrim®-ACV platform for IP development and reuse, Antrim®-MSS mixed-signal synthesis and Antrim®-ACM for analog modeling and characterization, in addition to select mixed-signal IP and consulting services. The Antrim partnership will help Slimtech develop their own intellectual property for customer chips aimed at emerging technologies, starting at 0.18-micron.
Slimtech's design services charter demands that customers have access to a wide variety of IP that is easily retargetable to meet the ever-shortening development windows. And, as the design arm for a new foundry, it's critical that the company have a broad portfolio of high-quality IP available quickly.
Slimtech selected Antrim after searching for a partner that could provide a total integrated mixed-signal solution, including IP, design tools and consulting services. Prior to Antrim, the company used an industry-standard analog simulator for development, and purchased IP. This partnership with Antrim will provide a path for future development of proprietary and industry-standard products.
"Foundries today are very competitive, but the one with the highest quality mixed-signal solutions on advanced processes holds a strong edge in the marketplace," said Tae-Guen Kim, Slimtech president. "Our experience in the industry led us to partner with Antrim, who has the fully integrated solution we were looking for. In addition to their IP generation capabilities, Antrim has a unique retargeting software, which allows us to quickly move to new technologies. We are very pleased to be partnering with Antrim."
"Customer partnerships help to keep us at the forefront of technology, and working closely with innovative companies such as Slimtech provide immense access to process and integrated circuit development," said Roy McGuffin, Antrim president and CEO. "As greater portions of chips become mixed-signal, Antrim will have the opportunity to continue to work with industry leaders who demand a solution for mixed-signal. We are looking forward to a long and close relationship with Slimtech."
