Alvaview announces High quality, Low-power Multi-format codec design for Mobile Video Devices
Austin, TX -- November 5, 2007 -- Alvaview (www.alvaview.com) unveiled today a new power-saving, highly optimized video codec design targeted for wireless IC manufacturer. The codec supports MPEG4, H.263 and H.264/AVC video formats at resolutions up to 720 x 576 as well as up to 16Mpixel JPEG still images.
Alvaview source commented, “The availability of highly optimized solution for MPEG4 decoder on ARM9 will pave the way for playback high quality video content even on non-Windows Mobile OS based devices. Alvaview's decoder runs on Symbian, Windows Mobile, WinCE and Embedded Linux based devices. The decoder is available for ARM7, ARM9, ARM11, Starcore and Coldfire processors.”
Supporting multiple video standards, the codec design enables video messaging, digital frame and video conference.
Alvaview's codec has been implemented in ANSI-C, which makes it easily portable to wide variety of RISC processors like ARM, MIPS, ARC, OpenRISC and DSPs like TI, ADI, ZSP, CEVA. The benchmark result shows that Alvaview codec has successful run on MPEG-4 QCIF@30fps on Nokia 7610, Sony Ericsson m600i , and Motorola RZR v3.0.

The availability of efficient VC-1 decoder solution will enable large number of mobile phone/PDA/PMP users to experience high quality video content playback on their Symbian, Embedded Linux or Windows Mobile OS based devices. Visitors to CES 2008 Booth #73458 Sands Expo, will see live demonstrations of the technologies that will be featured in the iMx21 board for showing a video stream with audio.
In addition to VC-1 decoder, Alvaview provides efficient solutions for H.264, MPEG-4, H.263 video decoders and MP3, OGG, High Efficiency AAC audio decoders.
