GE Fanuc Embedded Systems Introduces the Industry's Only COTS 10Mbit MIL-STD-1553 PMC Module
P-10SF brings higher 1553 performance in small PMC package
ALBUQUERQUE, NM - June 26, 2006 - GE Fanuc Embedded Systems, through its Condor Engineering center of excellence, announces the release of the P-10SF, its new single-function PMC module for 10Mbit MIL-STD-1553B performance. This advanced solution offers a less expensive architecture than regular 1Mbit 1553, while providing up to 10 times the data throughput.
The P-10SF PMC offers one or two channels of dual-redundant, 10Mbit, MIL-STD-1553B Notice 2 protocol using RS-485 transceivers. This interface is an excellent choice for flight controls, actuators, electro-pneumatic controllers or similar applications of standard 1553 requiring higher data rates.
“The P-10SF is the first PMC module on the market today to offer 10Mbit data throughput for MIL-STD-1553 over RS-485,” said Rick Schuh, Avionics Product Management. “The card is designed for both laboratory and rugged, in-flight applications and is provided with powerful software that reduces development time.”
Utilizing the latest 1553 Intellectual Property, GE Fanuc Embedded Systems has been able to greatly increase the features in a COTS 1553 avionics interface. Available configurations include 1 or 2 dual-redundant, fully compliant 1553/1760 interface channels with 8 discrete lines usable for RT address lines and BC triggers. The P-10SF offers BC or single RT or Bus Monitor operational modes. Advanced features include full error detection, programmable IGT and RT response times, BC scheduling, and “one-shot” operations.
The P-10SF card is designed to industry standard conduction-cooled specifications and is available in commercial and extended temperature configurations. I/O connections are available from either the front bezel or via the P14 connector. The P-10SF is also available integrated on a PCI or 3U CompactPCI carrier card.
The same 10Mbit 1553 technology is also available as an IP Core for user integration into Xilinx or Altera FPGAs with GE Fanuc’s FlightCORE-10 IP product. These products are supplied with the highly portable CORE-API which supports up to 8 independent MIL-STD-1553 channels. The CORE-API is provided in source code along with support for Windows and VxWorks. GE Fanuc’s high performance and intuitive software solutions provide complete and simplified access to MIL-STD-1553 functionality for development, integration, test, embedded and maintenance applications.
