Artisan, NEC sign deal; Xilinx crafts design kit

Physical library vendor Artisan Components Inc. (Sunnyvale, Calif.) said it has signed a licensing deal to supply its high-performance library components to NEC Corp.
According to the companies, the world's first 0.13-micron process-NEC's advanced UX4 high-performance process-will standardize on Artisan's standard cell library. The process will target high-end networking, communications and workstation applications.
Artisan will deliver its SAGE-X standard cell library, developed to meet ASIC applications exceeding 450 MHz.

Xilinx Inc. has announced availability of The Real 64/66 PCI design kit, including access to Xilinx LogiCore PCI cores, a 3.3-V/5-V universal 64-bit, 66-MHz PCI prototyping board, Windows driver development tools and several PCI reference designs.
The kit aims at those developing fully compliant PCI add-in boards in the PC, server and workstation markets.
Xilinx has partnered with Compuware, the leading provider of software driver development and debugging tools, and Nallatech, a member of the Xilinx third-party XPERTSTM consulting program. Nallatech is providing PCI design services and the prototyping board.
With the Xilinx 64/66 PCI design kit, customers receive a production version of Compuware's NuMega SoftICE Driver Suite. A standard license for the Compuware suite is included with the tools, which accelerate the development and debugging of Windows device drivers.
The PCI design kit with the Nallatech prototyping board and Compuware software is available now for $17,995 from Xilinx distributors. Visit www.xilinx.com.

Embedded Linux company Integrated Software & Devices Corp. said it has joined the MIPS Alliance Program.
According to the companie s, the agreement calls for ISDCorp to provide Royal Linux to MIPS32 and other MIPS architecture processors. In addition, ISDCorp will offer systems integration services, software drivers and Linux support for MIPS Technologies customers and licensees.
ISDCorp said having recently announced the production availability of Royal Linux and the successful port of Linux 2.2.1, the company is working to ensure that any systems maker using RISC processors can take advantage of the footprint and speed of Royal Linux for their devices, at a cost considerably lower than that of other embedded operating systems. ARM Holdings plc (Cambridge, England) said it has acquired the assets of privately held Infinite Designs Ltd. (Sheffield, England), a nine-person design-services company with expertise in signal processing, wireless and multimedia applications, for about $600,000.
