Arasan AC2200i available from TRIAS Mikroelektronik

SDIO Card Controller connects your appliance to a PocketPC or PDA

Krefeld, Germany -- September 6, 2006 -- TRIAS Mikroelektronik announces the availability of the AC2200i device by Arasan Chip Systems. The AC2200i is designed using Arasan's Industry Standard SDIO (Secure Digital Input/Output) Card Controller IP Core technology, which has been licensed by over 50 companies worldwide.

The AC2200i is a "bridge-device" for connecting appliances with UART, SPI, APB or parallel-port interface to a PocketPC or PDA which in turn uses the "SDIO"-Interface to allow attachment of memory-cards or peripheral-cards. Typical applications are portable printers, GPS receiver modules, RF-ID reader or similar appliances which need to be attached to a handheld computer.

The AC2200i has been upgraded to the SDIO Specification Version 1.20 which supports 200 Mbps transfers at 50MHz throughput in SD-4 bit mode. In order to utilize this increase in throughput and make the AC2200i suitable for a wider range of applications, SPI Mode, 8051 Mode (8/16 bit) and APB mode have been added.

In addition, TRIAS delivers related IP-Cores for integration in ASICs and FPGAs, in order to interface with SDIO/SD/MMC type of equipment.

A Hardware-Development-Kit (HDK) with sample devices is available to enable quick development start. The deliverables of the HDK include a mainboard, power-supply, SD/MMC-Slot-cable, sample-devices, example driver software for WIN CE, PALM OS and 8051 example code. In addition, a LINUX software stack can be licensed.

The AC2200i SDIO Card Controller ASIC is qualified as Industrial Grade and is also available in an environmentally friendly, lead free RoHS compliant package, the AC2200ie. Both versions are available to ship immediately.
