Spike Technologies releases its Serial ATA Core
Serial ATA core from Spike to significantly speed up complex SoC designs
Milpitas, CA - May 5, 2003 - Spike Technologies, the leading Intellectual Property and Chip Design Services Company, today announced the release of their Serial ATA Controller Core, targeting SoC designs.
Spike's Serial ATA Core is compliant with the Serial ATA 1.0 Gold specifications. This Link & Transport technology is available as a "synthesizable," Register Transfer Level (RTL) core. Both technologies are available for integration into host-side ASIC solutions, eliminating the need for and cost of additional devices to bridge to Serial ATA from legacy interfaces.
"Our customers will be able to reduce their time to market by using our Serial ATA Core," said Nikhil Modi, CEO of Spike Technologies. "We believe that the optional built in support for multiple well known system bus interfaces is an added advantage that we offer and will help our clients to quickly integrate the core into their design." Optional support is provided for Serial ATA II enhancements and glue less integration with Multiple SerDes interface specifications. The Core has been designed to scale to Gen II rates.
The core has been targeted to TSMC & UMC 0.18-micron process technologies as well as to Xilinx and Altera FPGAs. Spike has developed the verification environment in Synopsys VERA and Verisity's Specman eVc models to check for functional compliance with the specifications.
Serial ATA is the specification for a high-speed hardware interface that connects hard disk drives and digital videodisks to storage systems such as desktop computers, mobile computing equipment, small-size servers and internal networking storage devices. Systems implementing Serial ATA technology are known to have lower costs and better performance, connectivity and reliability.
