PLDA and ARM to deliver PCI Express-enabled ARM Juno development platform
PLDA enhanced XpressRICH3-AXI PCIe root complex controller enables ARM to deliver a robust high-performance ARM® Cortex®-A53 and A57 processor based PCIe subsystem
SAN JOSE, Calif. (June 2nd, 2015) — PLDA®, the industry leader in PCI Express® and interface IP solutions and ARM, the world’s leading semiconductor intellectual property (IP) supplier, announced the latest revision of the ARM Juno development platform that integrates the ARM big.LITTLE™ processor configuration of the ARM Cortex-A53 and A57 processors with the PLDA optimized PCIe Root Complex Controller.
Over the past years, PLDA and ARM engineering teams have been jointly defining mechanisms to enable the PLDA PCIe Root Complex controller and the ARM processor subsystem to communicate seamlessly. This effort has resulted in the most advanced processor platform available for enterprise class, server-based applications. PLDA® leading XpressRICH3-AXI IP seamlessly interfaces to ARM CoreLink™ CCN-504 Cache Coherent Network in order to address demand for energy-efficient solutions for the Enterprise Market. The Linaro Evaluation Build of the Linux kernel has been enhanced to fully support PCIe Express booting and control.
PLDA has made significant proprietary enhancements to the XpressRICH3-AXI PCIe IP to enable a high-performance seamless interface with the ARM Cortex-A53/A57 processor subsystem, including:
- PC-compatible direct access to PCIe configuration space (ECAM).
- PCIe-AXI deadlock prevention through optimized ordering rules.
- Customized error management (INT/MSI notifications vs AXI response).
“ARM and its partners are bringing innovation to embedded markets by enabling a diverse range of embedded computing platforms that address a broad range of applications,” said Vincent Korstanje, vice president of marketing, systems and software group, ARM. “The next generation Juno development system now includes PCI Express to enable prototype enterprise-class SoCs. PLDA’s support has been vital in bringing this latest revision of the Juno software development platform to fruition.”
“Working with ARM has enabled us to bridge the most advanced mechanisms of AXI4 and AMBA5 with our PCIe Gen3Root Complex controller”, stated Stephane Hauradou, CTO of PLDA. “These advanced features are available to our global customer base through enhancements to our wide range of PCI Express IP cores.”
