PixArt Takes ARC License as a Platform For Image Processing Solutions
SAN JOSE, Calif., and ST. ALBANS, England -- June 9, 2009 – ARC International (LSE: ARK) announced today that PixArt Technologies has taken a license for a member of the ARC® 600 core family as its platform for imaging processing in a wide variety of high-growth image application markets. The ARC-Based™ PixArt imaging application scales from small cell phones to the large desktop, and enables unique human interface capabilities for consumers, which are becoming increasingly prevalent in a wider range of consumer electronics devices.
This new agreement with a major player in the growing human interface development boosts ARC’s existing strength in the market as a leading solutions provider to system-on-chip (SoC) designers. Jason Lu, Vice President of PixArt Technologies, said, “ARC was a natural choice because of its established leadership as a platform of image processing for all kind of image applications. ARC’s unique technology helps to differentiate our SoCs from competitors and lower total silicon cost. With our ARC-Based product line, I believe we will win major ODM customer accounts.”
“We are pleased to contribute to PixArt’s success in the growing imaging application market,” said Sean Redmond, vice president of marketing and worldwide field operations at ARC International. “Winning in this competitive space requires unique solutions that add significant value to our customers’ technology and business strategies. ARC’s Solutions to Silicon continue to deliver half the silicon area and a quarter of the power of competing processors. This quantification of value is the compelling reason why ARC is becoming the market leader in low power, cost sensitive, consumer applications such as image processing applications. We are delighted to be integrated into PixArt’s innovative application and look forward to their continued momentum.”
