OmniSense Chooses Nordic Semiconductor's nRF905 RF-devices for the Facility Monitoring System (FMS)
- Nordic Semiconductor ASA (OSE: NOD) today announced that OmniSense LLC has selected Nordic's 915MHz RF device for its Facility Monitoring System. The nRF905 with its high level of integration, low system cost, very low power and ease of use, makes it a perfect fit for this innovative System.
OmniSense FMS (Facility Monitoring System) provides intelligent monitoring systems that combine wireless sensor networks and a reporting Web site for 7x24 monitoring of environmental parameters such as humidity, temperature and wood moisture content that influence the integrity of building systems and critical facilities..
The availability of the nRF905 has made it possible for OmniSense to manufacture miniature wireless sensors that can be installed during or after construction to monitor the integrity of a building structure and the systems that control a facility's environment. This development is considered revolutionary in the construction and building management industries, because most problems that eventually require expensive solutions in facilities management are readily detectable long before they cause acute damage. Moisture and mold related business liability is skyrocketing while insurers have eliminated water damage coverage from their policies. The OmniSense Facility Monitoring System is a timely and cost effective solution for improving control and visibility of moisture related damage.
"OmniSense is an innovative company that addresses a vital area in building management, and Nordic Semiconductor is pleased to have contributed in the development of the Facility Monitoring System, which is truly an amazing product offering" says Geir Langeland, Product Manager for Standard Products in Nordic Semiconductor.
"The nRF905 has proven to be an excellent choice for the radio link in our products, and the support from Nordic Semiconductor has been crucial in the development and introduction of the FMS", states Chris Hoogenboom, CEO of OmniSense LLC
