NewLogic Offers the World's First Wireless Multiband Intellectual Property Solution Supporting Bluetooth and IEEE 802.11a and b
Amsterdam, Bluetooth Congress; June 11th, 2002 - NewLogic Technologies, a leading supplier of intellectual property (IP) cores for wireless technology, today announced the world's first wireless multi-system intellectual property solution supporting the Bluetooth 1.1 standard as well as the WLAN 802.11a/b/g standards. WiLDBOOST, the newest offspring in the NewLogic IP family integrates the recently announced WiLD 802.11a/b/g IP solution with NewLogic's established BOOST (TM) Bluetooth baseband as a single solution.
Bluetooth is the leading standard for personal area communications (PAN), connecting devices such as mobile phones, PDA and PCs wirelessly. The IEEE 802.11 standards are widely accepted for wireless high speed data networking. Therefore PC's and many other electronic products will need to support both, Bluetooth and 802.11 to meet all user requirements. NewLogic's WiLDBOOST design uniquely satisfies this requirement by supporting Bluetooth and 802.11a/b/g. It is prepared to support emerging standards such as 802.11e/i once these are approved by the IEEE.
"WiLDBOOST IP allows leading edge semiconductor and system manufacturers to easily implement both, Bluetooth and WLAN technology in one system, enabling them to meet all user requirements" said Matthias Kaestner, VP Business Development of NewLogic.
About WiLD
The WiLD (TM) IP core family comprises an multi-mode IEEE compliant MAC core, 802.11b/g and 802.11a modem cores, as well the complete protocol software featuring NIC and access point functionality. The IP cores are "future proof" and prepared for optional features such as the upcoming Quality-of-Service and Security enhancements. All cores are provided in synthesizable RTL format, including comprehensive test benches and documentation.
About BOOST
NewLogic's BOOST (TM) IP family includes a Bluetooth baseband, a full Bluetooth software protocol stack and a Bluetooth CMOS radio macro. These IP blocks, when combined with a suitable microcontroller core, permit the implementation of a single chip Bluetooth solution using industry standard CMOS process technologies.
