LynxOS-SE RTOS for ARM Architecture (Cortex-A8) Showcased at ARM Technology Conference
LynuxWorks demonstrates time- and space-partitioned secure RTOS for high-performance real-time mission-critical systems
SAN JOSÉ, CA, November 9, 2010—LynuxWorks™, Inc., a world leader in the embedded software market, is showcasing its LynxOS®-SE real-time operating system running on the ARM® Cortex-A8 processor at the ARM Technology Conference, November 9-11, 2010, at the Santa Clara Conference Center, CA.
LynxOS-SE RTOS for the ARM Cortex-A8 processor was ported first to the Texas Instruments OMAP 3 platform. Designed for portable and mobile applications, OMAP 3 is the first family of multimedia application processors to integrate the superscalar ARM Cortex-A8 processor.
According to Robert Day, vice president of marketing at LynuxWorks, "The combination of the TI OMAP 3 and ARM Cortex-A8-based platforms are well suited for low-power, high-performance mobile applications such as Software Defined Radio (SDR) and secure medical systems. The ARM Technology Conference is a perfect forum for the demonstration of LynxOS-SE on this popular OMAP platform."
Designed to meet the most stringent requirements for secure real-time mission-critical applications, LynxOS-SE allows developers to quickly benefit from an out-of-the-box hardware/software solution that is optimized for the harshest environments. It offers a single, powerful solution for real-time systems that cannot afford downtime. The operating system provides open APIs, including full POSIX® conformance, medium-assurance security per the general purpose operating-system-protection profile (GPOSPP), and an advanced set of networking features for uncompromised performance.
Customers who purchase LynxOS-SE with the ARM Cortex-A8 processor port will get access to a pre-built LynxOS-SE platform that has been pre-compiled, integrated, and tested for the Mistral OMAP35x EVM Development Platform, which is a commercial platform that houses the OMAP 3 processor.
