Keil MDK-ARM support for Freescale MQX software provides greater choice and improved flexibility for designers using Kinetis microcontrollers based on the ARM Cortex-M4 processor
February 2, 2012 -- ARM® today announced the immediate availability of Keil™ MDK-ARM™ (Microcontroller Development Kit) support for the Freescale MQX real-time operating system (RTOS) and software stacks. Keil MDK-ARM now offers tight integration with Freescale MQX software solutions, and provides greater choice and increased flexibility for designers using Kinetis™ microcontrollers based on the ARM Cortex™-M4 processor.
For improved ease of use, the latest MQX version includes ready-to-run project templates for Keil MDK-ARM. MQX-aware status windows within the µVision Debugger also provide increased developer visibility of task status, stack utilization, CPU load, resource information (memory, messages, semaphores, etc.), network configuration and traffic statistics.
The Keil MDK-ARM is a complete software development environment for Cortex-M, Cortex-R4, ARM7™ and ARM9™ processor-based devices. MDK-ARM is specifically designed for microcontroller applications and is easy to learn and use, yet powerful enough for the most demanding embedded applications.
“Keil MDK-ARM provides extensive visibility of Freescale MQX software solutions, including streaming-trace capabilities. This is critical as developers require flexible tools to verify and optimize code,” said Geoff Lees, vice president of Industrial and Multi-Market MCU business, Freescale. “Freescale continues to provide market-leading software enablement and support for Kinetis microcontrollers based on the ARM Cortex-M4 processor.”
“Freescale Kinetis microcontrollers combine outstanding performance with extensive peripherals,” said Reinhard Keil, director of MCU Tools, ARM. “The Freescale MQX software solution unleashes the power of these peripherals and allows software architects to focus on the unique requirements of their embedded application.”
