MQX Embedded Announces MQX RTOS Availability for Freescale Semiconductor's ColdFire MCF520x Processors
MQX Embedded™ proven software technology supports new ColdFire® MCF520x processor family targeted at cost-constrained, high performance, power-efficient embedded products
SANTA CRUZ, Calif., June 27, 2005 – MQX Embedded™, a division of ARC International (LSE: ARK) that is focused on the software needs of embedded system developers, today announced the availability of MQX Embedded software products for the Freescale ColdFire® MCF520x processor family.
MQX Embedded software for the MCF520x family will provide the run-time functionality needed for developers to utilize its performance, power-efficiency and cost advantages to bring differentiated products to market quickly.
Based on proven success with industry leaders in a wide variety of ColdFire applications, MQX Embedded support for the MCF520x family will include the full line of MQX™ run-time products including the MQX RTOS and the MQX RTCS™ Embedded Internet Stack, as well as the state-of-the-art MQX Host Tools, which integrate with CodeWarrior™ to provide transparent visibility of tasks and key RTOS information to help keep ColdFire projects on schedule.
“MQX Embedded’s software provides an optimal platform for ColdFire customers looking to expand their product lines to new price points using Freescale’s new MCF520x family, as well as for customers evaluating an entrée into 32-bit processing,” said Joel Mattox, director of marketing at MQX Embedded. “MQX Embedded software has powered hundreds of customers to successful ColdFire-based products. We expect to broaden the range of projects using the MQX RTOS, RTCS Internet Stack, and our other run-time software by our support of Freescale’s MCF520x processor family.”
“MQX Embedded’s comprehensive software solutions have supported more than 30 ColdFire devices over the years, and their support of the new MCF520X family will enable our joint customer base to quickly migrate existing code to our latest ColdFire family,” said Bill Krakar, microcontroller tools program manager for Freescale. “We are pleased about the continued, consistent investment by MQX Embedded in our ColdFire product line.”
MQX Embedded’s software for ColdFire architectures is tightly integrated with the Metrowerks CodeWarrior™ Development Studio, allowing developers to accelerate the development of reliable, high performance industrial control and networking products. MQX Embedded products for the MCF520x family will work out-of-the-box with the Professional Edition of the CodeWarrior Development Studio, which provides MQX RTOS-aware and MQX RTCS™ TCP/IP stack-aware debugging, as well as the Standard Edition and the complimentary, code-limited Special Edition of the CodeWarrior Development Studio for ColdFire architectures.
