IPextreme Opens Tokyo Design Center, Kirk Saotome to Head Operation
"IPextreme is making excellent traction in the market as evidenced by the opening of our third design center this year. With this newest facility, headed by Mr. Saotome, IPextreme is well poised to support our growing base of customers in Japan," said Savage. "Moreover, Mr. Saotome's knowledge of the region and his background in system design, development and intellectual property integration will be a major asset in boosting IPextreme's ability to serve customers and grow business throughout the Asia Pacific."
IPextreme supplies silicon-proven intellectual property (IP) subsystems, based on designs sourced from leading semiconductor companies such as Infineon and Freescale, to customers building large system-on-chip (SoC) devices. To best support the IP it sells, IPextreme recently opened additional design centers in the Silicon Valley, Calif. and in Munich -- close to customers in the world's major semiconductor design hubs.
Mr. Saotome comes to IPextreme with a diverse and strong background in the electronics industry, including embedded software development, IC design, system integration and electronic design automation (EDA) methodology. He has worked in both technical and business positions such as engineering, field application, business development, marketing and business planning.
Prior to joining IPextreme, Mr. Saotome worked for a design consulting firm introducing a unique, reconfigurable platform solution for high-end digital signal processing applications. Mr. Saotome was directly involved in managing engineering projects in support of the platform, including high-speed PCB design, RTOS porting and companion chip development. In addition, he was responsible for business planning and development where he engaged with numerous customers and strategic partners.
Previously, Mr. Saotome worked in the EDA industry marketing system level design tools at Cadence and consulting on design reuse at Synopsys. He holds a BS in Math from Science University of Tokyo.
