New Era: Infineon automotive RISC-V virtual prototype with HighTec automotive-grade Compiler

Saarbruecken/Germany --  March 11, 2025 – HighTec EDV-Systeme GmbH announces the release of its new LLVM-based, automotive-grade RISC-V compiler designed to support the Infineon automotive RISC-V virtual prototype. This HighTec development platform enables a seamless software development ahead of hardware availability and sets the starting point for innovation and early exploration of future Infineon RISC-V solutions. It addresses the growing demand for efficient and scalable real-time, high-performance computing in the automotive industry, driven by the fast adoption of software-defined vehicles (SDVs). As the industry continues to evolve, RISC-V – an open standard – is set to play a key role in shaping the next generation of E/E architectures in automotive.

The HighTec RISC-V compiler is specifically optimized for RISC-V IP implementations from market-leading providers, achieving exceptional benchmarks in code density and high performance. At embedded world 2025, HighTec will demonstrate the seamless integration of its RISC-V compiler with the Infineon automotive RISC-V virtual prototype. A CAN demo – executed within a Virtualizer SDK environment – showcasing the prototype’s essential capabilities, enabling future TriCoreTM migration evaluations and insights into future design possibilities.

"We are constantly evolving our automotive RISC-V ecosystem to offer customer centric system solutions. HighTec’s compiler has helped us lay the foundation for our RISC-V Prototype offering, as they have been one of Infineon’s trusted software tools partners for decades”, said Thomas Schneid, Senior Director Software, Partnership and Ecosystem Management at Infineon Technologies. "HighTec’s automotive-grade compiler tools empowers automotive software developers to build a compact, yet reliable and powerful code, leveraging the features of Infineon’s automotive RISC-V virtual prototype."

"HighTec is committed to optimizing our LLVM-based RISC-V compiler for Infineon RISC-V solutions, delivering full automotive-grade services that meet the highest automotive safety and security standards", said Mario Cupelli, CTO of HighTec EDV Systeme GmbH. "Our close partnership with Infineon guarantees complete journey support from initial prototype implementations to fully productive designs"

To further support prototyping and accelerate development, HighTec, in collaboration with Infineon, and a leading RISC-V IP provider, has created a comprehensive getting-started bundle. This bundle is designed to provide early access to the Infineon automotive RISC-V virtual prototype, software tools, and detailed tutorials. Registration for early access is now open, with full availability of the bundle planned for Q2 2025.
