HiSilicon Technologies utilizes EEPROM IP from Aplus Flash Technology for its SIM cards
- Aplus Flash Technology, a privately-held, fabless provider of nonvolatile memory (NVM) products and customized NVM IP, today announced that its 0.35um EEPROM IP macro has been utilized in HiSilicon Technologies' 8-bit processor. The 8-bit processor is suitable for a variety of smart card applications such as SIM cards or loyalty card programs. Aplus Flash Technology supplies the IC's 32Kbyte EEPROM IP block for data storage. This EEPROM memory block is easily updated and managed through the onboard CPU. HiSilicon Technologies is the fabless ASIC design house spin-off of Huawei Technologies, a leading global networking and communications equipment company. The licensing agreement allows HiSilicon to embed Aplus' high-quality, silicon-proven 0.35um EEPROM IP into its microcontrollers for manufacture at Shanghai Manufacturing International Inc. (SMIC) in Shanghai.
Henry Ma, Aplus' Shanghai General Manager and VP of IP Sales and Marketing, said, "We are very pleased to be working with a leading communications company such as HiSilicon to expand Aplus' customer base worldwide. The customer base for Aplus' EEPROM IP has continued to grow, particularly in smart and SIM card applications. We look forward to supporting HiSilicon's product expansion in these markets."
