Fintronic's SuperFinSim Verilog Simulator accelerated through tight integration with Novas Debussy Debug System

High Performance Integration Bypasses PLI Bottlenecks

FOSTER CITY, Calif.-- July 18, 2003--Fintronic USA, Inc., a leading provider of high-performance Verilog simulators announced the release of an API-based interface between Super FinSim? and the Debussy? Debug System from Novas Software, Inc. The new interface provides more effective tool interoperability and simulation performance than the previous PLI-based mechanism.

Dr. Alec Stanculescu, CEO and president of Fintronic USA, Inc., stated, "The custom built API-based interface accelerates performance and enables functionality previously impossible to implement with a PLI-based interface. This new interface between Super FinSim and Debussy will provide our joint customers with a more effective solution for Verilog design verification."

"We are delighted by the improved integration of Fintronic's high-performance Verilog simulator with Debussy, which we expect to yield significant productivity improvements for our mutual customers," said George Bakewell, director of technical marketing for Novas. "Novas' knowledge-based architecture with its open APIs and common data model allows designers to use the tools they want, while also maintaining the highest level of interoperability and productivity throughout chip debug and verification operations."

About Super FinSim

Super FinSim is a high performance, robust Verilog simulator, compatible with tools from all the main suppliers in the Verilog simulation market. Super FinSim makes continuous progress toward support for Verilog 2001, with numerous features already supported, as listed on www.fintronic.com.

Super FinSim's low memory requirement, high performance save and restart, proprietary swapping mechanism, compact results format, and support for separate compilation, make it ideal for use in large simulation farms.

With over 3,500 licenses sold to over 400 different entities, including Intel, Motorola, Lucent, Transmeta, Mindspeed, Toshiba, Toyota, NTT, STARC, Matsushita, the FinSim family of Verilog simulators helped the design of many tens of chips since its first presence on the market, in 1993.

About Debussy

The Debussy Debug System speeds the resolution of design problems for complex ICs by automating the tracing, visualization and analysis of causes and effects in Verilog, VHDL and mixed-language descriptions. Debussy's architecture is based on a robust database of design knowledge that addresses design complexity and reuse issues by helping engineers quickly and thoroughly understand complicated or unfamiliar code. Users consistently report that Debussy cuts their debug time in half. Debussy is tightly integrated into standard chip design and verification flows through industry alliances with more than 25 leading providers of EDA solutions, including commercial logic simulators, formal verification software and hardware emulators.

About Novas

Novas is the pioneer of debug systems that reduce the functional verification costs for complex IC designs. Building upon the strength of its market-leading Debussy® Debug System, Novas' Verdi? Behavior-Based Debug System further improves the efficiency of designers in the system-on-chip era with advanced design exploration and debug capabilities. These allow design teams to better understand and analyze complex or unfamiliar design behavior, and cut by half or more the time it takes to locate, isolate and understand the root causes of design problems. Highlighted as one of the "Top 100 Products" for 2002 by EDN Magazine, Verdi also holds the honor as a finalist for the EDN 2002 Innovation Award. There are more than 10,000 Novas systems in use today at customer sites worldwide. Novas is headquartered in San Jose, Calif. with offices in Europe, Japan and Asia-Pacific.
