Faraday Announces the Addition Of Three Debug Tools For Its FA500 Series RISC Processors
- Faraday Technology Corporation (TAIEX: 3035), a leading fabless ASIC service and silicon proven IP provider announced three new debug tools in addition to Multi-ICE TM and Realview TM to support its ARM v4 compatible FA526 RISC Processor. They are
- Lauterbachâs Trace32TM-ICD debug tools
- EPIâs MAJICTM debug tools
- Faradayâs proprietary High Speed ICE â F-ICE
TRACE32-ICETM is a state of the art In-Circuit Emulator that offers unlimited hardware breakpoints and up to 16MByte dual-ported emulation memory. The real-time trace and trigger work up to the maximum speed of the CPU. The system offers an interface to all programming languages for most compilers and a multitask debuggers for a wide range of RTOS. TRACE32TM works with the highest variety of host interfaces. The communication link to the host is done by printer port, USB, or Ethernet, hence allowing a very high speed transfer.
The MAJIC ICETM provides a high-speed hardware interface between FA526 and industry standard debuggers, including EPIâs EDB debugger, ARMâs AXD debugger, and any RDI 1.5.1 compliant third party debuggers. EPIâs EDB is a Windows-based GUI debugger that provides the best-in-class support for software debugging, BSP development, and driver and kernel debugging. The combination of MAJIC ICE TM and EDB debugger is ideal for interfacing with the on-chip debug logic to deliver a high-performance debug capability.
"Our support for the Faraday FA526 core proves that EPI has unsurpassed ability to provide an end-to-end debug solution for any ARM licensee. We are looking forward to Faradayâs successful product introduction and to support many customers this new design would attract!â, said Claude Chalouhi, Vice President of worldwide Sales for Embedded Performance, Inc."
The F-ICE is the most cost-effective ICE solution for FA500 family. It is a JTAG like interface that is applicable for both Faradayâs FA510 and FA526 RISC processors. It supports ARMâs RDI interface and works seamlessly with ARMâs ADS and Realview Developer Suite. The tool improves the download speed via USB 2.0 port. Its deliverables include a Parser board, USB drivers, RDI driver, and one connecting cable.
