Dialog Semiconductor Licenses ARM Processor for Next-Generation 42V Automotive Battery Sensing Products
WHAT: ARM today announced that Dialog Semiconductor, a leading automotive and wireless semiconductor company based in Stuttgart, Germany, has licensed the ARM7TDMI-S™ processor. This new licensing agreement has enabled Dialog Semiconductor to design an intelligent car battery sensing solution which has the complete system functionality on a single chip. This system will become the standard platform for all environmentally-driven new solutions in next-generation automotive technologies such as Hybrid, Start/Stop or for storage of braking energy. The complexity of the requirements can only be realized with a powerful 32 bit RISC architecture and Dialog’s specialized mixed signal processing circuits.
WHEN: March 13, 2008
WHY: The proliferation of new embedded electronic devices in modern cars has produced an increase in the demand for power. The ARM7TDMI-S processor’s flexibility, low power and high performance, combined with Dialog Semiconductor’s advanced automotive design process, has enabled Dialog to meet high automotive quality standards with a “right first time” design.
WHO: Dialog Semiconductor develops and supplies power management, audio and display driver technology, targeting the wireless, automotive and industrial markets. The company’s expertise in mixed signal design, with products manufactured entirely in CMOS technology, enhances the performance and features of wireless, hand-held and portable electronic products. Its technology is also used in intelligent control circuits in automotive and industrial applications. Employing more than 230 people worldwide, Dialog Semiconductor Plc is headquartered near Stuttgart, Germany with additional sales, marketing, design and customer support facilities in the UK, the USA, Greater China and Japan; and a design center in Austria.
