Cavendish Kinetics Announces National Semiconductor Adopts its Nanomech Technology
Innovative Non-Volatile Memory to Enhance Analog Configurability
SAN JOSE, Calif -- April 18, 2007 -- Cavendish Kinetics, a fabless semiconductor IP company, announced today that National Semiconductor Corporation is working with the company to qualify its Nanomech(tm) embedded non-volatile memory technology for National's key analog and mixed signal processes.
Cavendish Kinetics offers an innovative technology that has significantly higher performance, lower power and lower cost using a standard CMOS process implementation that replaces conventional non-volatile memory.
"The excellent operating characteristics of Cavendish Kinetics' novel embedded non-volatile memory makes it a key addition to our technology portfolio. It can be easily combined with our current process technology options to enable higher performance signal path and power products" said Mohan Yegnashankaran, senior vice president of worldwide technology development for National Semiconductor.
Cavendish Kinetic's Nanomech technology allows simple incorporation into the metal system (BEOL) of standard CMOS and other processes, using standard equipment and materials. Since it works at native voltage, it does not require any of the high voltage circuitry normally associated with non-volatile memory, thus saving silicon area and power. The nature of the device makes it ultra-low power, with only capacitive power for write and erase and minute power for the read cycle.
"We are delighted to have a company with the prominence and stature of National Semiconductor as a customer," said Dennis Yost, CEO of Cavendish Kinetics. "We appreciate National's vote of confidence in our Nanomech technology and look forward to working closely with National to solve its embedded non-volatile memory needs."
About Cavendish Kinetics
Cavendish Kinetics is a fabless semiconductor IP company developing embedded Non-Volatile Memory technology for standard CMOS processes. Its Nanomech(tm) technology is a novel non-volatile memory solution, residing in the metal interconnect system, yielding no impact to existing IP, scaling to 45nm and below, operating beyond 200 degrees centigrade in a radiation harsh environment, and porting easily to different process technologies. Nanomech programs at high-speed and at native voltage requiring no high voltage overhead. It has ultra low-power write/erase and read with no leakage current. The base technology has been silicon proven and it has demonstrated 20M-cycle endurance. For more information please visit http://www.cavendish-kinetics.com
