Inicore Introduces Enhanced Controller Area Network IP Core
Newark, California, July 27, 2011 – The silicon intellectual property (IP) and design service provider Inicore Inc., announced today the immediate availability of the CANmodule-IIIx core, an enhanced full CAN (Controller Area Network) controller.
The CANmodule-IIIx is the next generation of Inicore's silicon proven CANmodule-III core. It contains new features such as an increased number of message objects, an AMBA 3 APB compliant bus interface, and single-shot transmission (no message retransmission upon a bus error).

The CANmodule-IIIx has 32 receive message objects, each with is own message filter covering the entire 29-bit identifier and the first two bytes of the data field, 32 transmit message objects supporting prioritized and round-robin arbitration, an automatic remote transmission request (RTR) message handler, and the ISO 11898-1 compliant CAN protocol framer. For diagnostic purposes, the core supports several loopback modes, contains readable error counters, and provides an error capture register that indicates the exact position of a bus error. The core is supported by Inicore's technical staff who provides core customization and FPGA/ASIC design services as well.
The deliverables for the CANmodule-IIIx core include synthesizable Verilog RTL code, selfverifying system-level verification environment, user documentation, simulation and synthesis scripts, technical support, and maintenance.
