Cambridge Consultants Becomes Arm Approved Design Partner
September 23, 2019 -- Cambridge Consultants has been appointed an Arm Approved Design Partner, joining a global network of design service companies that have been carefully selected and endorsed by Arm, the world’s leading semiconductor IP company. As well as uniting two leaders of the Cambridge technology cluster, the partner status ensures that Cambridge Consultants’ expertise is available to the entire device supply chain, from semiconductor companies to product manufacturers, helping ambitious companies to leverage Arm® IP and develop the products and services that will transform their markets.
Generic chips are often an appropriate choice for a wide variety of applications. However, with the explosive growth of the Internet of Things (IoT), there is a growing need for products with very specific niche requirements, making it difficult to implement in an ultra-low cost, ultra-power efficient way using such “off-the-shelf” technology. With Cambridge Consultants’ unique combination of expertise across IP, silicon and product development, clients achieve the optimal technical and commercial solution. The independent approach is complemented by deep and diverse market experience, enabling the provision of tailored services for everyone from tier one semiconductor companies, to world leading product brands.
Cambridge Consultants works with market leaders to enhance the benefits of the Arm architecture in their silicon, whilst at the same time developing world-class products and services that drive power consumption and cost to new lows. In particular, Cambridge Consultants can support clients with the creation of chip strategies, bespoke system architectures, design and development, ensuring that the chip not only meets the needs of the product, but also the wider business needs, all the way to the supply chain.
With over 850 staff, covering every design expertise from short-range wireless connectivity to global satellite communication, Cambridge Consultants has one of the world’s largest independent wireless development teams. Over the years, the company has helped clients to develop the world's first single-chip Bluetooth radio, the world's first GSM videophone and the radios that manage more than half of the world's airspace. Today the company is engaged in projects as diverse as developing the world’s largest commercial satellite network to visionary work developing ultra-low-cost IoT devices, with distributed intelligence at the edge.
Commenting on achieving Arm Approved Design Partner status, Jez Stark, Head of Semiconductor Services at Cambridge Consultants, said: “We are proud to join Arm’s group of carefully selected Approved Design Partners. We’re looking forward to building close partnerships in the Arm ecosystem and applying our expertise and experience across diverse markets to develop the groundbreaking technologies and platforms of tomorrow.”
Ciaran Dunne, vice president and general manager, Partner Enablement at Arm, added:
“The Arm Approved Design Partner program was designed to bring together industry leaders to accelerate custom SoC designs based on the Arm IP. Adding Cambridge Consultants as a member not only strengthens our long-term relationship, but further enables our mutual partners’ success by offering the highest-quality engineering expertise and services for the development of Arm-based designs.”
