Arrow Devices announces PDA, a revolutionary new debugging tool
Bangalore, India, Dec. 10, 2013 - Arrow Devices Pvt. Ltd., a leading provider of verification IP and tools has launched a revolutionary new debugging tool – the Protocol Debugging Assistant (PDA). This debug tool works with existing verification environments and methodologies, and is useful for efficiently debugging issues on SOCs that employ all types of interface and bus protocols.
The Protocol Debugging Assistant, or PDA is a game-changing product, that is poised to drastically improve the way logic and protocols debugging is done. The tool is characterized by its ease of use, and ability to cut down debugging time by orders of magnitude. It does this by helping design/verification engineers visualize data traffic and control events across various protocol abstraction levels. This tool picks up where verification IP leaves off, and helps the IP developer to efficiently drill down on issues without going through hundreds of thousands of lines of test logs.
Using the PDA tool, traffic can be viewed in different ways - such as a list of transfers, a hierarchy of packets, state machine diagrams, timer events, register file views or simple text. The tool also provides powerful analysis features to search, filter, mark and compare relevant data traffic and control events.. The compare feature gives engineers the ability to compare two scenarios at a protocol level. These analysis features enable quick scenario isolation and identification.
According to Aditya Mittal, CEO of Arrow Devices, “ We at Arrow Devices are committed to solving tough problems that come in the way of our customers time-to-market. A large chunk of logic verification effort, approximately ~30-40%, is spent in debugging test case failures. By substantially increasing debug productivity, the PDA tool helps customers meet time-to-market constraints.”
In the future, Arrow Devices plans to add exciting new features that automate the debug process even further. In the works are “social debug” features that allow teams to easily share and document debug knowledge. Ultimately, the PDA tool aims to become the central tool that will assist every designer in protocol debug.
