First Batch of China 3G Commercial Trial Handsets are all ARM Powered
April 24, 2008
What: China Mobile launched its first batch of ARM926EJ-S⢠processor-based TD-SCDMA handsets on April 1, 2008 at Chinaâs first 3G service commercial trial covering eight cities. Priced between RMB 2,000 and 3,800, these ARM Powered® handsets are made by in China by six manufacturers, including local and international companies such as Hisense, ZTE, Samsung and LG. During the trial, more than 20,000 users will be able to experience 3G services enabled by TD-SCDMA technology with the help of China Mobile, facilitating the commercialization of Chinaâs 3G standard.
Why: Almost every 3G handset shipped today, including TD-SCDMA handsets, is powered by at least one ARM® processor and supported by a strong network of ARM Connected Community⢠Partners. ARMâs unique IP licensing business model and the well-established ecosystem has enabled its Partners, especially software and system application developers, to speed up their design and manufacture processes, enabling faster delivery of handsets, software, applications and content services for the next-generation communication experience. Featuring high performance and low-power consumption, the ARM926EJ-S processor is an ideal choice for enhanced performance of Java and multimedia applications.
