AMI Semiconductor Expands Digital IP Library with the Addition of 65 Inventra Cores

Licensing agreement with Mentor Graphics Intellectual Property Division helps ASIC designers get to market faster with less cost

Pocatello, ID - January 27, 2003 – AMI Semiconductor (AMIS) announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Inventra, the intellectual property (IP) division of Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ:MENT) to add 65 Inventra IP cores to its extensive digital and mixed-signal ASIC libraries.

Access to the Inventra cores allows ASIC customers of AMIS to get to market sooner and with less cost by designing industry proven reusable cores into their end applications. The Inventra cores being offered by AMIS are particularly applicable in the automotive, medical, industrial and communication markets, either for digital or mixed-signal ASICs, where AMIS already has a significant customer base and years of design expertise.

“Our ability to offer standard and application specific functions from world leading independent IP developers, such as Inventra, frees up time and resources for our customers,” said Vince Hopkin, vice president of digital ASICs at AMI Semiconductor. “They can use that time to more fully concentrate on optimizing system architectures and developing even more proprietary functionality into their end products.”

All the Inventra cores now offered by AMIS include a test bench, simulation model, full documentation and netlists. The key Inventra cores licensed by AMIS include: 10/100 Ethernet MAC, Gigabit Ethernet MAC, I2C v2.0 Bus Interface, USB 1.1 Full-Speed Controller, USB 2.0 High-Speed Controller, USB Full-Speed OTG, IDE Controllers (ATA-1, 4, 5, 6), M8051 Family of 8-Bit Processors and CAN 2.0 Network Controller. All of the Inventra cores licensed by AMIS are available in both the XPressArray and cell-based product lines. A full listing of all the Inventra cores now available from AMIS can be found at http://www.amis.com/digital/ip_cores.cfm.
