Altera and Gidel Announce Stratix FPGA Rapid-Prototyping Board

Gidel's PROC1S Stratix 80 Board Designed for High-Bandwidth, High-Density Applications

San Jose, Calif., and Ein Ayyala, Israel, February 26, 2003—Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) and Gidel, an Altera Consultants Alliance Program (ACAP®) member, today announced the immediate availability of a rapid prototyping board for customers designing system-level applications with Stratix FPGAs. Available with a Stratix™ EP1S80 device, Gidel's PROC1S Stratix 80 board allows customers to begin rapid prototyping and real-time emulation of their high-bandwidth, high-density applications such as digital signal processing (DSP), imaging, machine vision, video processing, aerospace, and military systems.

"With the PROC1S Stratix 80 board, Gidel continues to be at the leading-edge of FPGA technology," said Reuven Weintraub, president and CEO of Gidel. "We are among the first Altera ACAP partners to make this advanced FPGA technology available to customers today."

"Altera has worked with Gidel for many years developing and marketing high-performance development boards. The latest offering from Gidel, the PROC1S Stratix 80 board, represents significant progress in complete, high performance, re-configurable system-on-a-programmable-chip (SOPC) solutions," said Mike Phipps, senior marketing manager of Altera's development kit program. "We are confident that this development kit will support engineers with even the most stringent design requirements."

PROC1S Development Boards
The easily reconfigured PROC1S boards are a popular universal prototyping platform for FPGA/IP evaluation, system hardware acceleration, and ASIC verification and emulation. Gidel's PROC1S board series can be used as a standalone unit or as a user daughter board for a target system. Users can rapidly implement designs minimizing time-to-market when developing with Gidel's FPGA boards and developers' kits.

Pricing and Availability
