Real Time Clock

Overview

The RTC (Real Time Clock) provides an automatic wake-up to manage all low-power modes. It is an independent timer. The RTC provides a set of continuously running counters which can be used, with suitable software, to provide a clockcalendar function. The counter values can be written to set the current time/date of the system. The RTC includes also a periodic programmable wake-up flag with interrupt capability.

Key Features

  • Programmable pre-scaler: division factor up to 2^20
  • 64-bit programmable counter for long-term measurement
  • Two separate clocks:
    • ICB clock for ICB interface
    • RTC clock for RTC Core
  • Two separate reset types:
    • The ICB interface is reset by icb_rstn
    • The RTC Core (Pre-scaler, Alarm, Counter and Divider) is reset by rtc_rstn
  • Three dedicated maskable interrupt lines:
    • Alarm interrupt, for generating a software programmable alarm interrupt
    • Seconds interrupt, for generating a periodic interrupt signal with a programmable period length
    • Overflow interrupt, to detect when the internal programmable counter rolls over to zero
  • Digital calibration circuit (periodic counter correction) obtained in a calibration window of several seconds
