Zoran Announces Seventh Generation DVD Multimedia Processor
Vaddis 7 Integrates Servo Front End, MPEG-4, DivX, DVD-Audio, Advanced Capabilities On Single IC
Sunnyvale, Calif. - January 6, 2004 - Zoran Corporation (Nasdaq: ZRAN) announced its seventh generation Vaddis 7, an advanced DVD multimedia processor system-on-a-chip (SOC) solution, which integrates the servo front end, MPEG-4, DivX, DVD-Audio and many other advanced features into a complete DVD solution. Sample quantities are now shipping to major DVD player manufacturers.
"Zoran's Vaddis 7 enables the next generation of advanced DVD players to include enhanced content and media support for standard and high definition displays as well as emerging networking capabilities. The Vaddis product line offers solutions for the full range of DVD players, from entry-level to the most advanced high definition-enabled DVD players," said Jinxiang (Gene) Liu, Ph.D., vice president and general manager at Zoran's DVD division.
The Vaddis 7 provides comprehensive MPEG-4 and DivX support. DivX content is decoded and displayed at 720x480 resolution at 30 frames-per-second. Zoran's proprietary algorithms for Advanced Single Pixel Processing (SPP) progressive scan and proprietary video post-processing filters ensure the best quality image even for low-bitrate content.
Vaddis 7 offers manufacturers the flexibility to build and differentiate multiple models based on the same core design. When used in conjunction with Zoran's MaestroLink technology, the Vaddis 7 becomes the core processor for a networked DVD player.
With its integrated S/PDIF receiver, Vaddis 7 is ideal for powering DVD-receivers that decode Dolby Digital content from an external source. The flexibility of the Vaddis 7 makes it an ideal solution for powering standalone DVD players, combos (DVD+VCR, DVD+TV, DVD-Receivers), and portable DVD players.
Vaddis 7 delivers MPEG-4, DivX, advanced simple profile (ASP), and DVD-Audio decoding. Vaddis 7 enables playback of audio and video content from Flash memory cards with its direct interface to Memory Stick, Secure Digital (SD), Compact Flash, Smart Media, and XD.
Vaddis 7 is designed for OEMs to easily migrate from Vaddis 6 DVD solutions for quick time to market. Vaddis 7 samples and a complete reference design kit are available now to Zoran's strategic customers and partners. Vaddis 7-based DVD systems are expected to begin shipping in Q1'04.
