Zoran and Falanx partner to provide high quality 3D core engine for multimedia mobile phones
-- Zoran Corporation, a leading provider of digital entertainment and digital imaging ICs, and Falanx Microsystems, a provider of complete mobile graphics solution IP cores, announced today that they have entered into a partnership to implement Falanx leading image quality 3D technology in Zoran's next-generation high performance multimedia application processors for mobile phones. >
This integration project is based on Falanx's Mali100™, an advanced 2D/3D hardware acceleration engine. Mali100™ enhances the processing speed and image quality capabilities dramatically for a wide range of multimedia applications, while providing an extended feature set with reduced power consumption and system production costs.
“It is a pleasure to work with Zoran to deliver new 3D features for the next generation of multimedia mobile phones and we are proud that they have chosen to integrate our 3D core into their application processor product line,” said Borgar Ljosland, chief executive officer, Falanx Microsystems. >
“The Zoran application processor with the integrated Mali100™ core provides a solution that most emerging, next-generation multimedia mobile phones will require. It is an optimal high performance solution, in terms of die size, system resources, and low power consumption, for forward-looking mobile phone manufacturers,” said Coby Sella, vice president and general manager, Zoran's Mobile Division.
