Symbian and Texas Instruments Extend Collaboration on Symbian OS and Wireless OMAP Platform
 DALLAS and LONDON (Dec. 2, 2002) -- At the Symbian Partner Event in London today, Symbian and Texas Instruments Incorporated (NYSE: TXN) (TI) announced that they are extending their strategic co-operation to further optimise the performance of Symbian OS on TI´s wireless OMAPTM platform as part of the Symbian Platinum Partner Program. Through joining Symbian´s Platinum Partner Program, TI continues its long-standing, strategic co-operation with Symbian as one of the earliest semiconductor companies to use Symbian OS on its OMAP platform.

 Today's announcement follows a series of strategic innovations developed by the two companies to enable optimal performance in wireless handsets based on Symbian OS and TI's industry-adopted OMAP platform which comprises high performance, power-efficient processors, a robust software infrastructure and comprehensive support network for the rapid development of differentiated 2.5G and 3G multimedia-enhanced mobile devices and software applications. New mobile devices and software applications based on the Symbian OS and TI's OMAP platform will include connected systems in a variety of forms that provide data, voice and engaging multimedia experiences anywhere and anytime. 
 
 In an effort to allow wireless application developers and handset manufacturers easy access to more optimized and enriched multimedia applications and services, Symbian and TI provide a hardware accelerator API on Symbian OS v7.0, delivering complete advantage of the digital signal processor (DSP)-based OMAP1510 processor.
