Silicon Image Appoints Industry Veteran Richard L. Sanquini to Board
SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 12, 2005 — Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq: SIMG), a leader in multi-gigabit semiconductor solutions for the secure transmission and storage of rich digital media, today announced the appointment of Richard L. Sanquini to the company's board of directors. A semiconductor industry veteran, Sanquini is currently chairman of the board at PortalPlayer, an industry leader in personal media player solutions. His accomplished career is anchored by 20 years at National Semiconductor, where he managed key business units, including microprocessors and microcontrollers.
Commenting on the appointment, Steve Tirado, president and CEO of Silicon Image, stated, "We are pleased to have Dick join the Board. His strong executive management and IP licensing experience in the semiconductor industry will prove valuable as we broaden our role in secure digital content delivery and grow our licensing business. While at National Semiconductor from 1980 to 2000, Sanquini built the microprocessor and microcontroller business units from start-ups to businesses generating several hundred million dollars from 1980 to 1988. In the 1990s, he developed a unique intellectual property program that generated royalty income and produced more than 2000 patents, managed major businesses, directed corporate business development, and was the chairman of two China joint ventures. Prior to National Semiconductor, he was president and CEO of Information Storage Devices, and earlier, general manager and director of the memory and microprocessor businesses at RCA. Sanquini holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering in Wisconsin. He is currently a member of the board of Zilog, Synaptics, FyreStorm and LitePoint.
