Imagination Technologies Licenses another POWERVR SGX Graphics Core to NEC Electronics
February 7, 2008 -- Imagination Technologies Group plc (LSE:IMG; "Imagination") - a leader in System-on-Chip Intellectual Property ("SoC IP") - reports that NEC Electronics Corporation (TSE: 6723), a world-leading semiconductor company, has licensed a second member of Imagination’s POWERVR® SGX graphics core family under a multiple-use license arrangement. The core will be integrated into future NEC SoCs.
This announcement extends the highly successful and growing relationship between the two companies. In April 2006 NEC licensed Imagination’s POWERVR SGX 535 core which it is deploying in a number of devices including its NaviEngine 1 single-chip system for car navigation, announced in October 2007. The new agreement will extend the markets addressed by NEC devices incorporating POWERVR SGX.
Under the terms of its licensing arrangements Imagination receives license fees and royalty revenues on SoCs incorporating Imagination’s IP shipped by partners.
