Mentor Graphics Provides Platform Express Solution for LSI Logic RapidChip Platform ASIC Partner Program
WILSONVILLE, Ore., Jan. 18, 2006 - Mentor Graphics (Nasdaq: MENT) today announced that it has joined the LSI RapidChip® Platform ASIC partner program with its Platform Express™ solution. This provides the two companies' mutual customers with the ability to shave off several months of aggressive system-on-chip (SoC) development cycles and focus on product differentiation.
The Mentor Graphics Platform Express product is a platform-based design environment that allows designers to create SoC designs out of complex intellectual property (IP) in minutes. It enables SoC designers to rapidly create and verify their designs by automating complex, tedious, and error-prone design creation, IP integration, and verification steps.
The LSI RapidChip Partner Program reduces time-to-revenue, design risk, and system costs by providing Platform ASIC designers with third-party development tools including intellectual property, design services, and design tools that combine quality and flexibility for the consumer, communication, storage and other markets. LSI will be able to use Platform Express in its latest generation of the LSI RapidWorx® design system.
"We share a common mission with LSI to enable designer productivity and speed time to market," said Serge Leef, general manager, System Level Engineering Division, Mentor Graphics, Inc. "As an LSI partner, we can deliver a complete platform-based design environment to our Platform ASIC customers, enabling them to quickly create complete system-on-chip devices efficiently and predictably."
"LSI continues to underscore its commitment to shorten development cycles and reduce cost for our RapidChip technology customers," said Kenneth M. Mikami, marketing director, Design Tools & Methodology, LSI. "Mentor Graphics' Platform Express solution provides another path for achieving that goal by meeting our standards for design integrity, ease-of-use, reusability, supportability, and quality."
