Knowlent Joins ARM Connected Community, High Speed Interface Verification with Electrical verification IP speed up design of ARM Powered products
August 2, 2005 - Santa Clara, California - Knowlent Corporation, a Silicon Valley-based Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and Intellectual Property (IP) startup, announced today that it has joined the ARM® Connected Community. As a result, Knowlent gains access to a range of resources to help it market analog verification IP that expedites ARM Powered® products to market.
Knowlent's Opal Electrical Verification Platforms (EVPs) comprehensively and automatically verify the PHY (physical) layer of PCI Express, Serial ATA or XAUI interfaces designs before tape-out to avoid post silicon surprises.
"We are pleased to become part of the ARM Connected Community Network," said Sandipan Bhanot, CEO of Knowlent Corporation. "ARM is one of the world's most respected IP companies, and we believe that by using the Opal platforms, designers will have an easier time integrating and validating their high-speed serial PHYs from ARM."
The ARM Connected Community is a global network of companies aligned to provide a complete solution, from design to manufacture and end use, for products based on the ARM architecture. ARM offers a variety of resources to Community members, including promotional programs and peer-networking opportunities that enable a variety of ARM Partners to come together to provide end-to-end customer solutions.
The ARM Connected Community also enables Knowlent to utilize the ARM Connected Community logo, which is an easy way for customers to recognize that Knowlent has proven their commitment and expertise in support of the ARM architecture.
"By joining the ARM Connected Community, which now comprises more than 300 companies, Knowlent increases the large portfolio of skills, products and services that are centered around the ARM architecture, and currently available to developers worldwide," said Mary Inglis, director of Alliances for ARM.

About Knowlent Analog Verification IP
Verification platforms and the verification IP market are well established for digital design. Because of the rapid adoption of high-speed interface technology, there has been a significant change in interface verification requirements, and thus there is now a need for EVPs and associated analog verification IP. Designers now have to thoroughly verify the analog layer of the interface because this layer is most vulnerable to failures at higher speeds. Until now, interface verification offerings were limited to the functional level. With Knowlent's Opal, analog verification of high-speed interfaces is now available to complement functional verification.
