IP Cores, Inc. Announces a Family of High-Speed AES/GCM IP Cores Supporting IEEE 802.1AE and P1619.1 Standards
IP Cores, Inc. announces a family of silicon IP cores supporting the new security standards IEEE 802.1AE and P1619.1. Starting at 29K ASIC gates for GCM2-12.8 and delivering up to 100 Gbps throughput with GCM2-128, GCM2 cores provide a flexible and high-performance solution for an SoC designer working on a secure transport or storage solution.
Palo Alto, California, September 21, 2006 -- IP Cores, Inc., setting the new benchmark for security IP cores, today announced a scalable family of IP cores supporting the secure storage standards IEEE 802.1AE and P1619.1. New GCM2 IP cores enable System on Chip (SoC) vendors to select the smallest GCM core of the family that satisfies the clock / throughput requirements.
"Addition of the high-throughput GCM core family to our portfolio enables SoC designers to deliver solutions with a industry-leading throughput-to-area ratio at a low core acquisition cost," said Dmitri Varsanofiev, CTO of IP Cores. "When using a core from the GCM2 family, our customers can precisely tailor the core area to match the throughput needs."
High-speed Encryption Protects Data on the Wire and on Tape
Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is used the IEEE standards 802.1AE for layer 2 transport security and P1619.1 for tape encryption. Addressing the market demand for high-speed AES crypto solutions for this market, IP Cores’ GCM2 implements the AES/GCM mode. GCM2 is designed for throughput between 12.8 and 128 Mbits per MHz.
GCM2 configurations support AES/GCM encryption and decryption throughput up to 100+ Gbps in a single core using 90 nm process, with easy parallelization to reach throughputs well beyond that number. Gate count for a fully self-contained GCM2-12.8 starts at 29K gates.
GCM2 family contributes to the IP Cores’ fast-growing portfolio of AES-based security IP cores. Cores are available in multiple configurations to meet specific SoC throughput, power, and gate count goals. For more information about IP Cores’ product line, please visit www.ipcores.com.
