intoPIX demonstrates TICO implemented SMPTE 2110 IP running 4K live on FPGA CPU and GPU

intoPIX Boosts the IP Media Production at NAB 2018: Demonstrating the New SMPTE ST 2110 Standards running both on soft- and hardware with TICO SDKs and FPGA IP-cores respectively.

NAB Show, Las Vegas -- April 9, 2018 - intoPIX, an innovative provider of compression technologies for live media production, is presenting an exclusive demonstration of the TICO technology running on different CPU, GPU and FPGA platforms with the new SMPTE ST 2110 standards.

The demonstration shows how Broadcasters can leverage the full benefit of moving to IP networks with TICO compression. Known as SMPTE RDD35, supported by the TICO Alliance and in the final stages of the ISO JPEG-XS standardization process, TICO eases the support of HD, 4K and 8K in live production guaranteeing lossless quality and line-based latency with lightweight compression. Used with SMPTE ST 2110, it enables users to reduce both their bandwidth consumption and their cost of operation for live production workflows.

“Broadcasters are really excited about TICO and the benefits to use it with SMPTE ST 2022-6 and SMPTE ST 2110 standards,” says intoPIX CEO and Director of Technology Gael Rouvroy. “The standard is well positioned to deliver excellent performance leveraging off-the-shelf IT infrastructure. This is a game changer in video production, allowing to connect HD, 4K and 8K over COTS Ethernet switches. With this demonstration we are showing the support on both hardware and software platforms. This is just the beginning of innovations we will bring to the industry.”
