inSilicon and Mysticom's Popular 10/100-Mbps Ethernet MAC and PHY Technologies Proven in Rigorous Interoperability Testing
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 26, 2001-- inSilicon Corporation (Nasdaq:INSN - news), a leading provider of communications semiconductor intellectual property (IP), and Mysticom, Ltd., the leading provider of semiconductor physical layer (PHY) IP for high-speed data transmission, today announced the successful completion of interoperability testing on their 10/100 Mbps Ethernet products. Interoperability between inSilicon's Ethernet Media Access Controller (MAC) and Mysticom's MystiPHY(TM) 110 10/100 Mbps Ethernet physical layer (PHY) is now proven in 10Base-T and 100Base-TX/FX modes. Together, the products provide a proven, ready-to-use MAC/PHY solution for designers of Ethernet communications systems-on-chip (SoCs) and systems such as network interface cards (NICs), switches and routers. Proven interoperability is already enabling mutual customers to significantly reduce their time-to-market, and should provide potential customers with added confidence when choosing InSilicon and Mysticom as their Ethernet technology suppliers.
"inSilicon has emerged as the leading supplier of Ethernet MAC IP by clearly understanding the needs of communications SoC and system suppliers," said Barry Hoberman, chief operating officer of inSilicon. "inSilicon's communications products are designed from the ground-up for easy integration. Our comprehensive IP offering, combined with the technologies of cooperative IP suppliers, allow our customers to reach new levels of integration, and enable them to rest assured that complex IP blocks will work right the first time."
"The MystiPHY110 core features a highly robust and flexible architecture that is well-suited for integration," said Dr. David Almagor, president and CEO of Mysticom. "As part of our strategy to offer a total IP solution, Mysticom also works with complementary technology suppliers so that our customers can bring competitive products to market in record time. inSilicon and Mysticom are two companies that understand the complexities of IP integration and are working together to ensure that the industry can fully benefit from the use of third-party IP."
About inSilicon's Ethernet MAC
inSilicon's Ethernet MAC with 10 and 100-Mbps operation is fully compliant to the IEEE802.3 standard, with a direct interface to MII, RMII, and GPSI-compliant PHYs. For faster transfers, the controller includes an optional integrated DMA interface to the host system. A flexible address filtering block provides VLAN frame detection, and the optional remote monitoring (RMON) and power management blocks support Magic Packet and Wake-on-LAN. inSilicon's Ethernet MAC is University of New Hampshire (UNH) Certified for standards compliance and interoperability and is proven in silicon in all operation modes - 10Base-T and 100Base-TX/FX.
About Mysticom's MystiPHY110 Core
The MystiPHY110 is a fully integrated IEEE 802.3/802.3u-compatible10/100Mbps Ethernet PHY core that is capable of working in both 10Base-T and 100Base-TX/FX Ethernet. It has been designed using patent-pending DSP and mixed-signal techniques and has been fully implemented and verified in silicon. The core has successfully passed University of New Hampshire (UNH) Interoperability Lab testing for standards conformance and interoperability. The MystiPHY110 offers high noise and cross-talk immunity, meeting the IEEE specification for near-end crosstalk (NEXT). It operates over 160 meters of cable, features low power dissipation and a small core size. In addition, the core can be used in multi-port designs to enable higher levels of system integration.
