Gaisler Research receives order for the Fault Tolerant LEON3 processor implemented in an Actel RTAX2000 FPGA from ACER in Taiwan
June 12, 2006 -- The Taiwanese National Space Organization (NSPO) announced earlier this year that the on-board computer for the ARGO satellite will be based on the LEON3-FT fault tolerant processor implemented in a radiation tolerant Actel RTAX2000S FPGA. Gaisler Research has now received the order for the LEON3-FT-RTAX design from ACER who is designing the on board computer for the satellite.
"This announcements show that our LEON3-FT-RTAX product offering is gaining acceptance in the space industry. We are in discussions with several more companies and organisations that are considering using LEON3-FT-RTAX in their space missions", says Per Danielsson the CEO of Gaisler Research AB.
ARGO
ARGO is the first Taiwan made satellite totally planned and designed by the National Space Organization (NSPO). NSPO is fully accountable for the spacecraft design, development, simulation, analysis, integration, and test activities in all aspects. The newly developed LEON3-FT CPU will be implemented in the on-board computer, a core satellite component. This is the first advanced satellite that uses this new LEON3-FT CPU associated with all the key components and software for the satellite power, data and command processing, and flight control. More information is available in the press release from NSPO.
