Elliptic Technologies Joins the Fido Alliance for Stronger Authentication Standards
Hardware Enforced Security with Elliptic’s tVault™ Provides Seamless Protection of Authentication Secrets
May 29, 2014 – Ottawa, Canada: Elliptic Technologies, a leading provider of embedded security solutions for the connected world, today announced it has joined the FIDO (Fast Identity Online) Alliance, an industry consortium bringing standards-based specifications for simpler, stronger authentication that define an open, scalable and interoperable set of mechanisms that reduce reliance on passwords providing easier authentication to online services.
As a leader in embedded security solutions and a FIDO Alliance member, Elliptic offers a wealth of products and expertise including authentication and confidentiality, programmable Root of Trust, embedded security modules and hardware-enforced security for Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs). With Elliptic’s flagship technology tVault™, which integrates seamlessly with various TEEs, user-installed applications can run on a device's main operating system, providing full features and access for users, while authentication secrets are protected in the TEE.
“The FIDO Alliance is proud of our associate member, Elliptic Technologies, for its dedication to the vision of industry standards for strong authentication. They join a powerful FIDO ecosystem vital to widespread adoption of interoperable, strong authentication that simplifies the user experience while raising security and privacy at the same time,” said Michael Barrett, FIDO Alliance president. “FIDO Alliance members embody the innovation that FIDO specifications enable. Elliptic joins FIDO Alliance members in rigorously defining and outlining the FIDO specifications, preparing all use cases for the public release of FIDO specifications later this year.”
“As the myriad of connected devices increases, enabling countless new services and endless possibilities to share and access content, secure authentication is crucial,” said Ogi Brkic, VP Marketing & Business Development, of Elliptic Technologies. “We are pleased to join the FIDO Alliance, and bring market leading security technology to the table that promotes the transition from passwords to deeper security standards based on robust, cryptography designs built right into the hardware.”
Elliptic has been developing market leading hardware and software security solutions for over ten years, implemented by device manufacturers, middleware providers and semiconductor manufacturers all over the world. To find out more on Elliptic’s solutions, visit: http://elliptictech.com/
