Elliptic Technologies Upgrades DRM Solution to Latest DTCP-IP Standard
June 24, 2010 – Ottawa, Canada: Security IP provider Elliptic has announced the release of its upgraded Digital Rights Management (DRM) software suite. The software suite complies with the latest DTCP or Digital Transmission Content Protection standard which was originally developed by five major electronics companies (Hitachi, Intel, Panasonic, Sony and Toshiba) and is currently in use by 140 companies worldwide.
Elliptic has offered customers fully interoperable and proven DTCP solutions since 2005 through multiple licenses with customers worldwide. The software can be integrated into embedded devices for use by individual subscribers in smart phones, PCs and tablet computers or streaming servers which offer secure content to multiple subscribers in large cable or satellite networks. The latest release fully supports Version 1.6 of the DTCP specification and is available for immediate licensing.

DTCP is a security framework designed to protect digital content such as high-definition movies, pay-per-view television or music against theft while the content is moved from a server onto the target device such as a PC, cell phone or gaming device. The standard was recently updated to support Blu-Ray DVD players and wireless high-definition and is now the cornerstone content protection technology used by the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MOCA) and Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) for secure distribution of high value digital content.
The DTCP content protection protocol has proven to be a robust, high performance digital content protection system in devices such as TV, set top boxes, media players and recorders and home media servers.
