Artisan's Templeton made chief strategy officer at ARM

The previous president of ARM Inc. was Jerry Ardizzone. Ardizzone's move to become vice president of sales at Ambric Inc., a fabless semiconductor company developing a form of programmable integrated circuit platform, was announced March 31, 2005.

As chief strategy officer, Templeton is expected to focus on the strategic development of ARM as a whole and to be closely involved in the development of ARM's profile in the U.S., both within the semiconductor industry and within financial markets, the company said. Brent Dichter, formerly the vice president of engineering at Artisan, has been appointed as the general manager of ARM's physical intellectual property division (PIPD). Brent reports to Tudor Brown, ARM's chief operating officer, the company said.

"The management team is evolving to reflect the fact that Artisan has become a semi-autonomous division of ARM. We wanted the management structure to reflect that with someone more operational in charge of PIPD. Mark Templeton isn't running that business any more," said Warren East, ARM's president and chief executive officer. "When we acquired Artisan we didn't just acquire the business, we were also gaining access to people like Mark, who joined the board of directors. It would have been a waste not to apply his skills across the whole of the company," East added.
