ARM Introduces the RealView Developer Kit for Processors Based on the Intel XScale Technology
CAMBRIDGE, UK - Feb. 26, 2002 - ARM [(LSE:ARM); (Nasdaq:ARMHY)], the industry's leading provider of 16/32-bit embedded RISC processor solutions today announced the launch of the ARM® RealView Developer Kit for network infrastructure, wireless and storage devices based on Intel XScale technology. The ARM RealView Developer Kit offers developers the ability to increase application functionality by providing 'best-in-class' code generation while reducing the costs of development, as the single set of tools supports all ARM architecture-compliant processors based on the Intel XScale technology.
Included in the ARM Developer Kit are C and C++ compilers; a macro-assembler and linker for processors based on the Intel XScale technology; the AXD debugger with support for on-chip trace capability; a JTAG debug interface; and a version of the ARM Firmware Suite[tm] that includes support for developer boards.
"We have worked closely with Intel to support the development of the ARM architecture-compliant, Intel XScale technology," said Dan Jaskolski , marketing manager, Development Systems, ARM. "Our in-depth understanding of the ARM architecture gives us considerable insight and expertise into providing the highest quality code generation and debug tools for ARM technology-based solutions. The new RealView Developer Kit brings together all necessary elements for rapid and cost-efficient development of systems and solutions that use Intel XScale technology-based processors."
"Processors based on the Intel XScale technology offer developers significant cost and time-to-market benefits across multiple segments such as network infrastructure, wireless and storage applications," said Peter Green, general manager of Intel's Handheld Computing Division. "Tools such as the ARM RealView Developer Kit provide important resources to enable developers to add features and services to their platforms. "
Availability
The RealView Developer Kit for processors based on the Intel XScale technology will be available direct from ARM and from ARM authorized distributors from the end of April 2002 at a cost of $6500.
About RealView Tools
RealView tools by ARM, provide designers with the best solution for creating and analyzing systems based on ARM technology. ARM RealView tools are designed and used by the same creators of the ARM architecture. Because the tools are developed by the designers of the architecture, they enable the highest level of pre-silicon evaluation and development and the broadest range of support for future architecture families and derivatives. ARM RealView tools are fully integrated and provide a complete solution to any design or SoC integration challenge, giving the developer higher confidence in first silicon and a faster time-to-market.
