Silvus Technologies and Ittiam Systems Announce Partnership to Provide 802.11n PHY/MAC IP Solution for Highest Wi-Fi Throughput and Extended Range

New IP Solution Allows for Easy Implementation of the Latest 802.11 Standard - 802.11n

LOS ANGELES, CA BANGALORE, INDIA-- March 17, 2008 -- Silvus Technologies, a leading wireless design services provider and commercial supplier of semiconductor Intellectual Property (IP) solutions for wireless applications, and Ittiam Systems, a recognized leader in digital signal processing systems in the media and communication IP market, today announced the availability of a complete PHY/MAC 802.11n IP solution. The new offering will include Silvus' 802.11n PHY and Ittiam's 802.11n MAC. Highlights for this new joint offering include 20 MHZ and 40 MHz advanced MIMO modes (including 4x4, 3x4 configurations) and a 600 Mbps full throughput Media Access Controller (MAC) which is IEEE 802.11n draft 2.0 compliant (firmware upgradeable to ratified standard as and when available). The intellectual property is highly optimized for power, gate count and MIPS and also provides for full backward compatibility to 802.11 a/b/g systems.

This 802.11n IP solution will help developers balance complexity and performance efficiency, while expediting their time to market. 802.11n applications include high-speed data networking, portable media players, set-top boxes, digital video recorders and high-end video security.

"Over the past seven years, Ittiam's 802.11 a/b/g/i (WPA2 WiFi™ Certified) IP offerings have successfully enabled its customers' wireless applications through SOC or FPGA implementation," said Rohit Bhuva, vice president of business development at Ittiam. "We are now leveraging our expertise in 802.11 MAC IP with Silvus' expertise at the PHY level to expand our current offering of 802.11 IP solutions."

"The joint 802.11n IP solution provides companies with access to optimized, fully-supported IP Cores that can be integrated directly into multiple-chip, single-chip and SoC (system-on-chip) solutions," said Babak Daneshrad, chairman, president and CEO of Silvus Technologies. "This is an important offering as it gives developers of broadband wireless the ability to quickly implement 802.11n."

Availability

Evaluation and production quality 802.11n IP from Silvus and Ittiam will be rolled out in 2Q08. An FPGA Reference Platform that runs a LINUX OS is available for validation and testing. Several pricing options are available, providing a range of associated one-time upfront and royalty fees.
